Check out this new 3D printer called the BigRep One. It has a build area of over three feet square. Unfortunately it comes with a price tag of $40,000. However, as the news item points out, that is in the price range of what a spool of material costs for an industrial printer.
What I found really fun about this printer is that the release notice is using the printing of furniture as an example of an application for this device. See these sample pieces really get the creativity gears spinning:
